In Windows, Recycle Bin is a temporary storage area that stores all the deleted items from your hard drive so that you can view or restore the deleted items in case it needs to be recovered. Although the recycle bin is useful, but not all users like or need the recycle bin to appear on their desktop. Unfortunately, Microsoft has made the process of getting rid the Recycle bin from the Windows 10 desktop complicated for average users. If you try to right-click on the recycle bin, there isn’t any option available for you to remove or hide it. Here are the steps to follow in order to remove or hide the recycle bin from the Windows 10 desktop.
Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize.
The Personalization settings windows will then appear. Click on Themes on the left panel and select Desktop icon settings under the Related Settings.
The Desktop Icon Settings windows will then be loaded. Under Desktop icons, uncheck the Recycle bin and click on the Apply button. Click Ok button to close this window.
Now, go to your desktop and the Recycle bin shall be removed by now.
Please take note that hiding the Recycle Bin will not remove or disable its functionality in Windows. It will still store all the deleted items from your hard drive in the background. To access to the Recycle bin folder, open the File Explorer and type Recycle Bin into the address bar and hit enter. You shall then see all the deleted items which are stored in this Recycle bin folder.
Conclusion
Recycle Bin can be useful to recover your valuable files in case you accidentally deleted them. So, it would be better to have it enabled and visible on the desktop. If you prefer to delete files directly without sending them to the recycle bin, you may refer to the post on how to delete files permanently on Windows 10.
