Online resources are one of the best ways for kids to learn and play. However, not all contents on the Internet are appropriate for kids. As a parent with responsibility, you should ensure that your kids stay safe online. Before handling a phone or tablet to your kids, you should setup filter on the device to block access to inappropriate websites like porn, gambling, drugs, violence, and other harmful sites. This would prevent them from accidentally visiting a site they shouldn’t and exposed to negative online experience.

Unlike iOS, Android does not come with the function to block websites and because of that, we’ll need to rely on third party app that specially designed for this purpose. Below, we will discuss about how you can use an app called “BlockSite” to block websites on Android phones or tablets. 

Block Websites using BlockSite

Using BlockSite is the easiest and most efficient method to block any websites on your Android phone or tablet. Once you’ve configured Blocksite to block a website, the affected URL will inaccessible from any web browser like Chrome, Firefox, etc.

BlockSite is available for download on the Google Play Store. Once you’ve installed the app, open BlockSite app on your Android phone or tablet.

Select Getting Started, Go to Settings, and enable BlockSite Services.

Tap on OK when it asks whether you would like to use BlockSite.

Then tap on the green Add button to include a website in the blacklist.

Enter the web address of your choice and tap on the green tick icon located at the top-right of the screen.

Now try to visit the affected url on any web browser and the website should be inaccessible with the message saying that this site is blocked by BlockSite.
