Gmail is a free email service provided by Google and there are a lot of great features and settings in Gmail that taking care of almost each and every need of ours. Log in to your Gmail account as you normally would and click on the Settings icon located at the top-right of the window.
From the menu that appears, click on the Settings option.
Click on the Chat heading located at the top and select Chat Off. Save the changes.
