Getting your website listed on the popular search engines like Bing and Yahoo is one of the most effective methods to increase the organic traffic (traffic that are directly from a search engine’s result page) to your website. Sign up for Bing Webmaster Tools account. If you already have a Microsoft account, you can just click on the sign in button and then enter your Microsoft account credentials to login. Alternatively, you can also use a Google or Facebook account to sign in.
You would be directed to the home page of Bing Webmaster Tools. Enter your website URL and click on the Add button.
Bing Webmaster Tools will then ask you to provide the sitemap for your website. Sitemap file is a file that contains a list of pages of a web site. If you are unsure of creating your own sitemap file, you can use an online sitemap generator, to create the sitemap file. After creating the sitemap file, enter the sitemap URL and click on the Add button.
You’ll then have to verify the ownership of your website. There are three ownership verification methods and choose the option to Place an XML file on your web server and then follow the given instructions. Once you’ve uploaded the XML file, click on the verify button to verify the ownership.
Upon successfully verified the ownership of your website, Bing Webmaster Tools will notify you the success message and you’ll see your website listed under My Sites.
