Go to the installation folder of the Microsoft Excel. Since Excel is part of Microsoft Office application, you probably can find it under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OfficeVersion or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeVersion. Look for the file named Excel.exe. Right-click on Excel.exe file, Properties, Compatibility. Under Compatibility mode, check the option Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select Windows 7. Click on Apply button to apply the changes and click on OK to close.

Now try to run your Excel file and you should not be seeing the error message anymore when closing or saving an Excel file.
